Site Policy
Welcome to the BlindCafe community. We want every visit to be entertaining, welcoming, fun, and a source of knowledge.
Our most important rule is simple: be courteous and respectful toward other members.
1. Where This Policy Applies
This policy applies to the BlindCafe website, membership portal, TeamTalk rooms, and BlindCafe programs and activities. BlindCafe may update this policy as the community and its services change. The current version will remain available on this page.
2. BlindCafe Rooms
General Rooms
General rooms are intended for a broad audience. Foul language and topics of an explicitly adult nature are not permitted in these rooms.
Mature Rooms
Mature rooms are intended for adults. Some mature topics may be discussed, and some mature rooms may not be continuously moderated. Mature-room status does not permit harassment or illegal activity.
3. Account Security
Your TeamTalk username and password belong only to you. Do not share, loan, sell, or transfer your account or credentials to another person.
A TeamTalk username is the member's permanent login identity. Members may change their optional website display name and may change their password at any time. A valid email address must remain associated with the account for website login and account communication.
BlindCafe may suspend access when account information is invalid, missing, compromised, or associated with a security concern. Contact BlindCafe management for help restoring valid account access.
4. Room Etiquette
- Participation: BlindCafe is a voice-chat community. Members in an active room may be asked to speak. A moderator may remove a member who does not respond after a reasonable request.
- Text chat: Avoid public text conversations when a class, seminar, presentation, performance, or other organized event is in progress.
- Recording: Do not record a BlindCafe room or event by electronic or mechanical means unless BlindCafe has authorized the recording. Some events may be recorded for approved archival or program purposes.
- Competing audio: Do not disrupt a BlindCafe room by simultaneously participating in another audio chat or call.
- Conversation: Do not monopolize a conversation or hold the transmit key for an unreasonable amount of time. A moderator may clear the queue so other members can speak.
5. Harassment and Discrimination
Harassment is prohibited. This includes:
- Explicit sexual or X-rated comments directed at another person.
- Repeatedly following someone from room to room.
- Threatening or intimidating statements or conduct.
- Denigrating or imposing religious views on another person.
- Racial or ethnic slurs and derogatory comments.
- Discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity.
- Denigrating comments based on disability, physical ability, or another protected characteristic.
6. Policy Enforcement
A moderator who observes a possible violation may refer it to the BlindCafe management or compliance team for review. Depending on the circumstances, BlindCafe may:
- Give a verbal warning.
- Issue a written or email warning.
- Suspend some or all privileges temporarily.
- Ban a member permanently.
- Take another proportionate action appropriate to the safety and operation of the community.
7. Immediate Suspension
Privileges may be suspended immediately when:
- A violation is serious enough to require immediate action.
- An action threatens member, account, or site security.
- BlindCafe is being used to promote, exchange, or distribute child sexual-abuse material.
- BlindCafe is being used for software piracy.
- BlindCafe is being used to sell or exchange illegal drugs.
- BlindCafe is being used for the illegal exchange or distribution of copyrighted material.
8. Filing a Complaint
When it is safe and practical, members are encouraged to resolve a personal disagreement privately before filing a formal complaint. Anonymous complaints are discouraged because they can be difficult to investigate, but BlindCafe recognizes that a person may fear retaliation.
A person filing a formal complaint may be asked to participate in a management or moderation review. To file a complaint, email complaints@blindcafe.net.
9. Questions
Questions or comments about this policy may be sent through theContact Us page.
